WWDC2008 was a blast. Steve got up on stage and talked about the iPhone and showed a video. This wasn’t just any old Apple video, this video had LTC Wallington from US Army – Advanced Technologies in it…which happens to be my boss. I was very excited when that came on. Now just to set the stage, the Army does not endorse the iPhone or Apple, but a few years back (2005) CIO General Steve Boutelle asked for diversity in the Army pertaining to computer technology. Since then the Army has been working with Apple, like they have in the past with Microsoft to get Apples on the Army Land War Net (Army’s network). I came on a year ago and kick started the project when my article came out in forbes.com (you can read this on this blog) and now we are in a pilot program with Mac OS X (10.5x). The iPhone would bring a entirely new platform for the Army. The Army right now use Blackberry. But since RIM’s server go to Canada and then back to the use, this posses a interesting issue. When the iPhone comes out it would go directly to the Exchange server.
But there are a lot more things Apple will need to do if they hope to one day sell the iPhones to DoD. One big example is the use of the Common Access Card (CAC). The DoD is required to digitally sign out going email. So enough about what I do… My personal view is that Apple has found yet another way to get hardware in to the Enterprise. I have a few pictures and the actual video that has recently been pulled from the Apple iPhone section below. Enjoy the video in all it’s glory….. At WWDC08 they had a lot of iPhone sessions on how to create programs for the iPhone, make your website optimized for the iPhone and even a session for .NET for the iPhone. They still had the Mac OS X sessions but the iPhone sessions really did take center stage this year. So on another note… how many of you will be getting their new iPhone. I know I will. Some people may say, “Why should I get the new one if there are only a few changes in the new one.” Well here it is, iPhone 3G has, GPS, 3G technology and, and… well it’s a little thinner… oh and it’s $199.00 for the 8GM and $299.00 for the 16GB. Both old and new will have the iPhone 2.0 software. So for me the 3G and the GPS alone make it worth getting. I am also going to get the larger one since with the release of the 2.0 software the AppStore will bring about an entirely new experience…Applications for the iPhone and well I need room for that. So in closing, WWDC2008 was the the best one yet and Steve Jobs out did himself yet again…See everyone at MacWorld, but stay tuned here for more blogging and more fun!!
I saw this camera on Gizmodo and was very interested. I have one coming and will report back soon.. keep watching here for my review.. oh and I am taking it to WWDC!!! There are 3 different models, the original Flip Video, the Ultra Flip, and the Mino Flip… I got the Mino Flip coming to me..In the mean time watch the video and go to the website, www.theflip.com. If it’s good enough for Paris!!!
Update: I got my Flip Mino and well, I love it. It’s simple, easy and perfect for that quick movie making on the fly. I am such the cheese-ball, but I did a small video and here it is.

When I first saw that Pure Digital came out with its new, 3.3-ounce, or 93-gram, Flip Mino HD (retail $230) is the world’s smallest, lightest and least expensive high-definition camcorder, I was amazed that they could get a HD camera so small. I was very impressed with the original Mino, but I am even more impressed with the MinoHD. So I saved my pennies and purchased it. During christmas I used the MinoHD to take some video of the family and then I very easily dropped the video in to iMovie HD (I still don’t like the newer iMovie) and then began to edit. The result was the greatest holiday video ever.
Pure Digital now offers a customization, where you can add your favorite picture to the actual camera body or keep it less flashy like I did and go with a single color. All in all this is still the best “pick up and go” camera on the market and even my good friend David Pogue, New York Times technology columnist, says in an email to me “The Mino HD’s picture quality is MUCH better.
