Comments on: Samsung SCX-4500 wireless Printing and Scanning on Mac OS X

Hi guys, I know this is an old thread but it’s the most comprehensive one I’ve found on the topic. I’m using an SCX-4500 connected to my MacBook (OS 10.6.4) via Airport Express. Printing wirelessly is no problem but I cannot get preview or image capture to “see” the SCX-4500 so I cannot scan from it wirelessly. I’ve spent hours and hours on this, and have tried the following with no luck:

-Deleted printer and set it up again
-Reset printing system and set up printer again
-Manually installed drivers from Samsung website, reset printing system
-Installed Samsung Smart Panel but it just sat “greyed out” in menu bar
-Deleted ALL printer drivers, reset print system, let OSX download 4500 driver
-Ran software update to make sure that AirPort is up to date

Nothing seems to work. I remember that I had this same setup working about a year ago under Leopard (scanning wirelessly using Preview) but now the 4500 simply won’t show up as a device. Can you guys think of any reason why this would be happening?

Has anyone had trouble with their Samsung not printing with the error message: “printer offline” when printer IS online?

So, are you asking how to plug a USB cable directly. My direction actual should make the print/scan feature work on any computer connected to the network with the Samsung Software installed using Image Capture.

But I’d like to know how to setup this device (the SCX-4500W wireless built-in) to work with AIRPORT EXTREME hub (airport utility software), to be able to print and scan thru my macbooks and imac together…
