Setting up Microsoft Messenger:Mac to an OCS Environment

Microsoft | No Comments »

Microsoft has added a new feature to it’s Messenger:Mac program that allows you to connect to your Corporate Office Communications Server 2007 (OCS).  You can do audio chat, video chat, text chat, and you can even send file back and forth.  Here is how you setup your client on the Mac OS X.

Step 1: Open Messenger:Mac and go to “Preferences

Step 2: click on the “Accounts” tab and then the “Corporate” tab
Step 3: Click on “Change“

Now your ready to enter your credentials to connect to the OCS server.  You may need to have a valid Certificate in Keychain Access. Ask your Administrator for help with obtaining this.
Step 4: Enter your credentials and remember to enter the “domain” with a “\” before your login name.

Step 5: Click “OK” and close your preference window.
Step 6: Click “Sign In” and now you should be connected and able to talk.

Mac OS X and CAC (Oberthur)

Apple, DOD | 1 Comment »

Issue:  When running Mac OS X 10.5.3 or higher, there is a new version of the Common Access Card (CAC) that the Mac will not see.  There is an identifier on the back of the CAC that should say “Oberthur”.

**Note: Make sure you are using SCR 331 readers with the latest firmware or a compatible CCID reader. I have both a SCR 331 and a GEM Plus Twin.

Solution:  You will need a special download that can be found on Apple’s Fed-talk mailing list board.
