Howard Stern, the iPhone 3.0 and XM Sirius

howard_stern_siriusjpgDriving into work today I was listening to Howard Stern (channel 100).  He was continuing his discussion he had yesterday about what mobile phone he should get.  A lot of the staff have iPhones and have been telling Howard how much they like their iPhone and that he should really get one himself.  Of course I have tried for the past 2 days to call in but I never get through, so I figure, maybe if I blogged about this then Baba Booey would see it and tell Howard.  There are a few things that Howard really wanted on his iPhone.  One was Lotus Notes.  So that said, IBM makes an iPhone App for Lotus notes called Lotus Domino eMailinotes-textbanner-530x140-ani

The second was downloading Video Podcast to watch later.  He did state that this is possible on the iPhone, but what he didn’t state is that you don’t need a computer to download them.  With the current software you can actually download Video Podcasts directly from the iTunes.app on the iPhone itself.  Then eventually it will transfer any downloads to the computer once reconnected.

He also talked about putting movies on the iPhone and having it with you no matter where you are.  His example was his movie “Private Parts“.  He could have it with him where ever he goes and literally plug his iPhone in to a TV or projector and play it or even just show it on the iPhone itself.

Another big thing he did mention was that XM Sirius is going to be coming out with an iPhone App.  A lot of us knew this but Howard just affirmed it.2968

He also yesterday talked about a NEW iPhone coming out with a lot of new feature and I really wanted to get through when I tried to call in and tell him it’s not a NEW iPhone it’s new software for existing iPhone(s).  On March 17, Apple presented the blueprint for iPhone OS 3.0, the next version of the world’s most advanced mobile platform. In addition to previewing its innovative features, Apple gave members of the iPhone Developer Program immediate access to the iPhone OS 3.0 software beta and an updated Software Development Kit (SDK) with over 1,000 completely new APIs.
